October 15th-19th

Here is a preview of next week's curriculum....

*Language Arts: We are beginning to use the Read Naturally program this week.  I hope that you had the opportunity to read the description of the program I sent home last week.  We will all be reading the story, "Dogs", altogether so that we practice the daily routine/expectations.  We also will begin our synonyms unit on Tuesday.
*Reading: Our skill focus for this week is Main Idea.  We will be reading level appropriate text during the week and have an in-class "pop quiz" on Friday.
*Math: With our community trip to McDonalds on Thursday, we will be spending time in math investigating prices and items on the menu.  We will create our own menus and determine the cost of our meal.  We also will be spending time on determining the amount of money (in dollars only) to give the cashier for total bills.
*Social Studies: On Monday and Tuesday, we will be creating our own law and presenting the law in a persuasive speech to the class. The remainder of the week will be learning about the roles of the Judicial Branch and discussing what is fair vs. unfair.
*Social Skills: We will be reading about and discussing the importance of always washing your hands and caring for yourself when sick.

Have a great weekend!
